A Professional Corporation (also known as a “PC”) is a special type of corporation authorized by each state specifically for the purpose of providing certain professional services including (this varies by state) doctors, lawyers, and in many cases architects, accountants, psychotherapists, medical services and engineers.
A PC does not shield a specific owner from their personal liability for malpractice or negligence, but does shield other owners from other owners’ malpractice or negligence.
Some states also allow Professional Limited Liability Companies (a “PLLC”) with similar requirements to be a licensed profession.
We can file your Professional Corporation in most states. Simply use our corporation formation order form and select the “Professional Corporation” option on the step where you enter your business purpose. Note this option has a small surcharge due to the complexity of the filing process for PCs.
If you need a PLLC, please contact us to inquire if your state allows PLLCs.
