We have to give some of our competitors credit, they’ve actually somehow convinced their customers to pay more for a so-called “free” service. That’s impressive but a little sad.
Listen, we get it. You’re an entrepreneur on a tight budget. But please understand that a “free” company is nothing more than a marketing gimmick.
All these companies are doing is jacking up the prices for other parts of forming a company that are absolutely required to start your business.
For example, you form the company by filing the necessary paperwork but:
Let’s do some math on forming a company for “free” (all prices current as of October 2019):
Formation: $0
FEIN: $70
Banking Resolution: $35
Operating Agreement: $40
REAL TOTAL: $145 + State Fee
Formation: $0
FEIN: $70
Banking Resolution: (only included in $149/year package)
Operating Agreement: $35
REAL TOTAL: $149/year + State Fee (for the life of your company – OUCH)!
(which is just another name for LegalZoom; is it weird they have another brand that charges different prices than the parent company?)
Formation: $0
FEIN: $79
Banking Resolution: Unknown
Operating Agreement: $99
REAL TOTAL: $178 + State Fee (Unknown if they provide a banking resolution)
Formation Price: $59
FEIN: $59
Banking Resolution: FREE
Operating Agreement: FREE
Now let’s compare some other options you might want (but are not required):
IncFile:
Registered Agent Service: $119/year (first year “free”)
Company Minute Book: $99
Business Contract Templates (25 Forms): $150
Total Cost: $249
Total 5 Year Cost: $725 ($249 + 4 years at $119/year)
MyCompanyWorks:
Registered Agent Service: $99/year (guaranteed to never increase)
Company Minute Book: $69
MyCompanyForms (200+ Forms with Lifetime Updates): $39
Total Cost: $207
Total 5 Year Cost: $603 ($207 + 4 years at $99/year)
The math is similar for most competitors, again, just make sure you’re comparing apples to apples.
One thing we’ve noticed is that many of these competitors are basically saying “we’ll process this order in 4 to 5 weeks unless you pay for a more expensive package” or some kind of expedite fee.
This is very weird because many states can file in a matter of days regardless of the fees. So are they saying your order will just sit in a pile for weeks when it could be done in days just because you didn’t pay them a ton more?
We treat all orders the same – we process them on the SAME business day (if received by 12 pm PST). You can pay expedite fees if you want to speed things up but we pay those directly to the state (or overnight/courier service).
Do you have weeks to sit around to start your business?
Because you are a discerning person who likes to do their research and have figured out that “free” is not really free we’re going to sweeten the deal (which is already sweeter than our competitors). Here’s an offer code for 10% off our fees:

P.S. Have you checked the state fee you’re being charged by our competitors? Sometimes they seem to mysteriously not match ours and it never seems to be in your favor. Weird.
